Swissport UK has been appointed to provide the ground handling services to the newest airline at London Gatwick Airport, United Airways Bangladesh. The airline provides twice weekly services from the London airport to Dhakar in Bangladesh using an MD83 aircraft. The services began in November.

Sarah Brabon, a passenger service agent with Swissport at Newcastle, has won two free flights on the Jet2.com network after a massive sales drive in October. In all Sarah sold 58 seats during the month and won the tickets as part of a sales promotion run by the airline. Sarah (pictured left) is presented with the tickets by Geoff Patch, Jet2.com's Station Manager at Newcastle.

Swissport UK has confirmed an extension to their existing contract to handle Norwegian Air Shuttle at Stansted Airport. The contract has been extended by two years. "We face challenging times in the aviation industry," Jacqui Crawford, Swissport Commercial Director said. "We enjoy an excellent relationship with Norwegian and it is pleasing that we can look forward to working with them well into the future."

Swissport has been advised by Unite, the trade union representing some of its staff at Birmingham, that it intends to hold a ballot for industrial action at the airport. "It is astonishing that Unite, once again, is prepared to put their members' livelihoods at risk by undertaking such action," Mark Faulkner, Chief Executive Officer of Swissport said.
